Durande Painting

I am moving into the later layers on this painting of the Durande. Here the sea is more noticeably the antagonist. The high horizon line suggests dominance over vessel. I cut out the higher key turquoise color of the sea for a more somber grey blue. Now that I think of it, I can't remember Victor Hugo describing the hue of the open ocean.
